The New York Yankees claimed lefthanded reliever Matt Gage off waivers from the Houston Astros on Monday.The club designated infielder/outfielder Diego Castillo for assignment to open a 40-man roster spot for Gage.Gage, who turns 31 in February, made his major league debut in 2022 for the Toronto Blue Jays and appeared in five games last season for the Astros, compiling a 2.70 ERA.In 16 career MLB games, Gage has an 0-1 record, one blown save and a 1.83 ERA with 20 strikeouts across 19 2/3 innings.
