The New York Yankees claimed infielder CJ Alexander off waivers from the Athletics and optioned him to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Sunday.Alexander, 28, had been designated for assignment on Thursday after six games with the A’s.Alexander batted 3-for-17 (.176) with eight strikeouts in his smattering of big-league appearances. He made two starts apiece at first base and third base and also saw time in the outfield.
