The New York Knicks are set to hire Walt Perrin as their assistant general manager, multiple media outlets reported Tuesday.
Perrin might not be the lone addition to the role, however. The Athletic’s Mike Vorkunov reported that the Knicks are also hiring Frank Zanin as another assistant general manager.
The pair reportedly will work under Scott Perry, whom the Knicks retained as general manager for the 2019-20 season. Perry has been the team’s general manager since July 2017.
Perrin has been with the Utah Jazz for the last 19 years, most recently as vice president of player personnel. He also previously served as a scout for the Detroit Pistons and Minnesota Timberwolves.
Zanin has been with the Oklahoma City Thunder’s front office since 2016. He also worked as an assistant general manager with the Brooklyn Nets, with whom he spent six years.
Current Knicks assistant general manager Gerald Madkins’ contract expires in August.
New York hasn’t been to the playoffs since 2012-13, when the club made it past the first round for the first time since 1999-2000.
