The New York Mets are calling up left-handed reliever Tyler Jay from Triple-A Syracuse, multiple outlets reported Wednesday.A first-round pick by the Minnesota Twins in 2015, Jay was pitching in the independent Frontier League when he signed with the Mets in August 2023.Jay, who turns 30 on April 19, has yet to make his major league debut. He pitched 3.2 scoreless innings on Saturday at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in his lone appearance this season for Syracuse.He pitched in four games during spring training, allowing no runs and no hits in five innings while striking out seven and walking one batter.
