Mets to promote sidearming flamethrower untouched in Triple-A

Reliever Alex Carrillo is set to be promoted from Syracuse by the Mets after not allowing a hit or run in a brief stint with the team’s Triple-A affiliate.MLB Network reported Carrillo would be activated by the Mets on Tuesday.Carrillo tops 100 mph with his fastball and mixes in a sinker and changeup, resulting in 40 strikeouts in 25 total innings across multiple levels of the minor leagues in 2025.At Triple-A, the right-hander had 10 strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings with no runs, hits or walks yielded.The 28-year-old sidearm hurler was a reclamation project by the Mets out of winter ball and has only appeared in 22 games in the minors in his career, posting a record of 3-1 with a 2.76 ERA and 46 strikeouts in 29 1/3 innings. Opponents have a .162 batting average against Carrillo.It’s not only his delivery that’s unorthodox.
