Mets power past Dodgers for fifth consecutive win

Jose Lindor hit a go-ahead, two-run home run in the seventh inning, Harrison Bader had four hits and the visiting New York Mets increased their winning streak to five games with a 9-4 victory against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday.DJ Stewart homered and had three RBIs as the Mets won for the seventh time in eight games and improved to 11-3 since an 0-5 start.Chris Taylor broke out of an 0-for-31 slump to deliver a two-run single for the Dodgers. Shohei Ohtani scored a run and drove in another, but Los Angeles lost for the sixth time in the past eight games.The contest was the opener of a three-game series.After squandering a 4-0 lead, New York went back on top 6-4 in the seventh on Lindor’s two-run home run off right-hander Daniel Hudson (1-1), his second. Starling Marte hit a two-run single in the eighth, and Stewart drove in another run with a ninth-inning single.Mets starter Sean Manaea gave up two runs on four hits over five innings, with three strikeouts and three walks. Reed Garrett (3-0) gave up two runs, both unearned, in his lone inning and picked up the win.The Mets took a 2-0 lead in the second inning on Stewart’s home run off Yoshinobu Yamamoto, his third, and an RBI single from Bader. New York increased the lead to 4-0 in the third on an RBI single from Pete Alonso and a sacrifice fly from Stewart.
