Brett Baty, Mets salvage series finale against Red Sox

Francisco Lindor homered and doubled while Brett Baty drove in three runs to propel the visiting New York Mets to a 5-1 victory over the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday.Baty broke a 1-1 tie with a bases-loaded single against reliever Brennan Bernardino in the seventh inning that scored two runs. Bernardino came on in relief after Liam Hendriks (0-1) surrendered three consecutive singles to load the bases.Lindor hit a solo home run in the ninth that finalized the scoring. It was his 10th long ball of the season.The victory allowed the Mets to avoid a three-game sweep. Boston won 3-1 on Monday and 2-0 on Tuesday.New York scored more than three runs in a game for the first time since a 4-3 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on May 12.Mets starter Tylor Megill struck out 10, tying his career high, in 4 2/3 innings. The right-hander allowed a run on four hits and a walk.Huascar Brazoban (3-0) pitched 2 1/3 innings of scoreless relief. He limited the Red Sox to one hit and no walks while striking out four.Boston’s Garrett Crochet gave up the ball reluctantly with one out in the sixth. He surrendered a run on five hits, walked one and fanned five.
