Because Syracuse falls in the path of totality, on April 8, 2024, we will experience complete darkness for several minutes beginning around 3:22 PM. This awe-inspiring event is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to come together as we encourage wonder, celebrate community, and educate people of all ages about astronomy and space science.  The next total eclipse in New York State will not take place until 2079.

Educators, organizations, and other community leaders can sign up NOW to receive a free kit to engage students, customers, or clients for the 2024 Total Solar Eclipse! Eclipse kits will be delivered beginning in Fall 2023 and will include viewing glasses, activity sheets/lessons, posters, and more!
