Yankees INF Jazz Chisholm Jr. to begin rehab assignment

New York Yankees infielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. will play in a minor league rehab game with Double-A Somerset on Thursday.Chisholm will bat leadoff and play third base, which may indicate where the Yankees will use the 27-year-old All-Star when he returns to the big leagues.Chisholm has been sidelined since late April with a strained right oblique. Yankees manager Aaron Boone noted that the team will consider playing Chisholm at the hot corner while with New York. He could be activated as soon as next week, per MLB.com.”I want him to work over there this week and in his games over there, keep that flexibility,” Boone said Wednesday. “Then we’ll make a decision one way or the other.”Chisholm mostly played third base when the Yankees acquired him from Miami last summer, but he moved back to his natural position of second base after Gleyber Torres left in free agency.
