I will just say as a sports fan, thank goodness the NFL Draft is still going on! Commissioner Roger Goodell said last week in a statement that the draft will go on as planned for April 23rd-25th. What the draft will look like no one really knows, but the draft is happening. So us sports fans can rejoice as we are about to enter the month of April and can get excited about picks being made later this month. So with that said, here is my latest mock draft just three weeks away before the NFL Draft!

We’ve got a run on wide receivers! In this edition I have six wide receivers going in the 1st round. It all starts with the New York Jets at 11. For the longest time I had the Jets taking an offensive tackle. But with Robby Anderson leaving for the Carolina Panthers, the Jets are left with a tough choice. Go with a top offensive tackle, or a top wide receiver? I say with as deep of talent as there is with wide receivers in this draft, to get the top option on the board would be too tempting to pass up. So they take CeeDee Lamb of Oklahoma and that starts a mini run of receivers off the board. The Raiders take Henry Ruggs from Alabama at 12 and then the 49’ers take Jerry Jeudy of Alabama at 13. Overall there are a lot of teams that need wide receiver help in this draft. I think a lot of teams will be desperate and grab receivers in the 1st round out of fear they will “miss out” on some of the top options.

Then we get to the biggest shock in my mock draft. I have the Jacksonville Jaguars taking quarterback Jordan Love of Utah State at 20th overall. The Jaguars traded Nick Foles (and his terrible contract) to the Chicago Bears clearing the way for Gardner Minshew to be the starter for the Jaguars. Minshew in 14 games last season threw for 3,271 yards, 21 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. Not bad for a 6th round draft pick. However, I’m not convinced that the Jaguars believe in Minshew going forward. There is a clear lack of direction from the Jaguars franchise and I believe they will add to the confusion by drafting Jordan Love. Listen I’m not saying the pick makes sense for the Jaguars, but a team like Jacksonville with no real direction is the team most likely to make a wild card, jaw dropping, head scratching decision. Everyone is expecting the Dolphins or the Raiders with there 3 1st round picks to make a splash. I’m telling you right now, keep an eye out for the Jacksonville Jaguars. They are going to do something real stupid.

So what do you think? Like the picks? Hate them? Wondering what goes on in the damaged and confusing thing that is my brain?
