Three players were ejected during the third quarter of the Miami Dolphins’ game against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday in Orchard Park, N.Y., after a hit by Dolphins linebacker Kiko Alonso on Bills quarterback Josh Allen incited a fracas.Alonso hit Allen as the quarterback slid at the end of a 9-yard run midway through the quarter. Bills teammates responded by going after Alonso, and a scrum ensued. When the dust settled, Alonso, Miami defensive end Robert Quinn and Bills offensive tackle Jordan Mills were ejected. Quinn and Mills had been tangled in the scrum, with Quinn grabbing and holding Mills’ facemask for an extended period.Alonso has a history of late hits on sliding quarterbacks. Last year, he concussed Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco with a hit to the head as the quarterback slid, but he was not ejected. This year, Alonso was flagged for a 15-yard penalty after hitting Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck while he was sliding, though Alonso appeared to try to hold up.On Sunday’s hit, Alonso contorted his upper body to avoid Allen’s head, but he hit Allen hard in the chest, and his leg followed through and whacked Allen in the helmet.
