Reports: Jets, Cardinals to interview Kingsbury

Despite posting a career losing record as Texas Tech’s head coach, Kliff Kingsbury reportedly is drawing interest from two NFL teams with head-coaching vacancies.Both Yahoo Sports and NFL.com reported Tuesday that the Arizona Cardinals and the New York Jets plan to interview the former Red Raiders head coach regarding their top coaching positions.Texas Tech fired Kingsbury on Nov. 26 after the team completed a 5-7 season, losing its last five games. The Red Raiders put up sub-.500 marks in each of the past three seasons, leaving Kingsbury with a 35-40 record in his six years on the job.The team finished with losing records in Big 12 play in all six of Kingsbury’s seasons.Kingsbury landed a new job in December when he was hired as Southern California’s offensive coordinator. However, the reports Tuesday indicated he still could move on for an NFL position.Kingsbury, 39, threw for 12,429 and 95 touchdowns in four seasons as Texas Tech’s quarterback from 1999-2003. His only NFL experience was with the Jets in 2003, when he appeared in one game and completed 1 of 2 passes for 17 yards.
