Report: Jets to fire Bowles after season finale

The New York Jets intend to fire head coach Todd Bowles after Sunday’s season-ending game, NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport reported Saturday. The Jets play the New England Patriots, and Bowles is expected to be let go, win or lose.Prospective candidates to replace Bowles, who has a 24-39 record in New York, could include former Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy and former Detroit Lions and Indianapolis Colts coach Jim Caldwell, Rapoport said.No matter what happens with his job, Bowles will find his final paycheck of the season smaller than usual. The NFL fined him $25,000 on Saturday for criticizing the crew that officiated the Jets’ overtime loss to the Packers last week.
