Mets activate backup catcher d’Arnaud

The New York Mets activated catcher Travis d’Arnaud on Sunday, just less than a year after he underwent Tommy John surgery.The team optioned catcher Tomas Nido to Triple-A Syracuse in a corresponding move.d’Arnaud, who signed a one-year, $3.5 million deal in the offseason, played in just four games last season before sustaining a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his throwing arm. He underwent Tommy John surgery on April 17.
