Mets 3B Frazier injures left oblique

New York Mets third baseman Todd Frazier injured his left oblique muscle and will return to New York to receive a cortisone shot.Frazier said he felt discomfort in his left side while taking batting practice on Monday. He reported the injury to the training staff and an MRI exam on Tuesday detected the injury.”I am frustrated with myself and just one of those things where you come into the year all healthy and ready to roll and this happens, so it’s not fun,” Frazier told reporters.There isn’t yet a timetable for how long the 33-year-old Frazier will be sidelined.He is the second New York infielder to get hurt during spring training. Jed Lowrie is out with a left knee injury and it isn’t yet known if he will be ready for the start of the regular season.
