Jets fire HC Bowles

The New York Jets fired head coach Todd Bowles Sunday, hours after the Jets were embarrassed in their season finale by the New England Patriots 38-3.”I would like to thank Coach Bowles for his dedication to the New York Jets for the last four years,” Jets CEO Christopher Johnson said in a statement. “After carefully evaluating the situation, I have concluded that this is the right direction for the organization to take. I would like to wish Todd, Taneka and their family only the best.”In four seasons in New York, Bowles went 24-40 and failed to lead the team to the playoffs.In his first season in 2015, the Jets finished 10-6, but successive 5-11 records followed, and they closed this season at 4-12 despite a 3-3 start.
