The Winnipeg Jets acquired forward Kevin Hayes from the New York Rangers on Monday for forward Brendan Lemieux and a 2019 first-round draft pick.
If the Jets win the Stanley Cup this season, the Rangers also would receive a fourth-round pick in 2022.
Hayes, 26, has 14 goals and 28 assists in 51 games this season.
Hayes signed a one-year, $5.175 million deal with New York last offseason. TSN reported that the Jets will take on his entire salary.
The 6-foot-5, 216-pound winger has played his entire career with the Rangers. He has scored at least 40 points in four of his five seasons, totaling 87 goals and 129 assists in 361 games.
Lemieux, 22, the son of NHL legend Claude Lemieux, has nine goals and two assists in 44 games this season.
The Rangers now have five picks in the first two rounds of the 2019 draft.
