Isles goalie Lehner leaves game after collision

New York Islanders goaltender Robin Lehner exited Tuesday’s game with the Ottawa Senators due to an undisclosed injury with 4:40 remaining in the third period after a collision with Ottawa’s Brady Tkachuk.

Lehner exited after Tkachuk barreled into him after getting by Brock Nelson at the right side of the crease. Lehner’s head appeared to hit the ice and he was examined briefly by a team trainer.

Tkachuk was initially credited with the goal but after all four officials consulted they overturned the original goal. Ottawa challenged the ruling but off-ice officials in Toronto ruled the goal counted.

The goal was awarded to Jean-Gabriel Pageau.

Lehner made 21 saves before being replaced by Thomas Greiss.

Lehner is 20-11-5 in his first season with the Islanders.
